Iceberg

History

Iceberg was built as a performance racing boat for the famous (Rolex) Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race in the 90s. The 52 feet long yacht was a custom built Adam’s design. Created for both racing stormy ocean waters and cruising around warm waters on the weekends. Both hull and mast were built from aluminium, back then the state of the art light but strong material for all vehicles going fast.

She competed successfully in the 1995 race under her then owner and skipper G.Gibson. After racing and cruising around Sydney in the mid 90s, Iceberg came to the Whitsundays under her new owner Vince Stamilio. He enjoyed racing her in the Hamilton Island Yacht race and lots of other tropical watr races and started putting the boat into charter with ProSail. In the early 2000s, Iceberg was purchased by the original owners daugther and her husband Mark Christiansen, also known as “CD” and run as a full time Whitsunday Charter boat business. After the a few years, the couple relocated and the vessel was sold to the Gold Coast. There Iceberg spent 2 years unmoving in a marina berth until the Luke Mairs and his family bought the yacht. After 6 months of refit on the Gold Coast, sailing her up to the Whitsundays and following up with an interior renovation, Iceberg started sailing the Whitsundays again in 2007. Iceberg was the first yacht of ISail Whitsundays.

To this day, Iceberg has hardly been modified from her original design, proving the superior Adams design. She has a full complement of powersails that propel her with the same speed as when she first slid through the water. In late 2016, Iceberg went to a new home in Brisbane, where the yacht now cruises the Stradbroke and Bribie Island.
